OUR RESOURCES
Amateur Radio

Our Amateur Radio Group (ARES) is a critical part of the overall emergency management program. During 2016, Cherokee County ARES members participated in multiple events which include training, weekly net activations (in which they test radio & digital capabilities), public service events, and work parties to maintain equipment and repeater sites, etc.

Local Emergency Operations Plan

The Local Emergency Operations Plan (LEOP) is a plan which details roles and responsibilities for local agencies before, during and immediately after an emergency. LEOPs are required to be updated at least every four years.

Training

The Emergency Management Agency continues to deliver a wide range of training to emergency management stakeholders within Cherokee County. Training includes EOC Management & Operations, Resource Management, Hazardous Materials Contingency Planning, CPR among others.

Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Emergency Management Agency develops a Hazard Mitigation Plan, or a community plan to evaluate hazards, identify resources and capabilities, select appropriate actions, and develop and implement the preferred mitigation action to eliminate or reduce future damage in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the residents in the community.
